Connor, this analysis of you and Morrow proves that 3X has a tremendous effect on hip to shoulder separation and velocity. Look at Brandon's 3X profile compared to yours.

Brandon and you have similar stride length to stride speeds but because of his explosive 3X he is landing with his drive leg farther off the rubber than you which is also creating more hip to shoulder separation than you. His above average 3X and separation is giving him a faster time than you from FFS to PR which is a good indication of how much harder he is throwing than you. You both are even finishing the same.

How much effort does Connor need to exert on the drive leg to be able to reach the force vector position?  I can definitly see that reaching that position will enhance his oportunity to be able to apply 3X at the appropriate moment. Do you feel that with more effort applied to the drive leg, that flexion will be lost? Does one compliment the other.  In trying to get him to move down the mound, my thought for him the other night was to take a visual of Nolan Ryan in his windup-always moving in a linear fashion as his mechanics were being performed.  Would you recommend any extra work over and above your 3X pre season to accelerate his strength growth?  Thanks again  SCM

He needs to continue to move through the 3X Pitching Velocity program if possible. This program focuses mainly on 3X into hip to shoulder separation which is his main issue. This is the point I was trying to make in the video here. The difference between Connor and Brandon is Brandon has an explosive 3X which is creating more hip to shoulder separation. Basically Brandon's drive leg foot comes off the rubber a lot faster than Connor's. In sprinting this is called contact time. Contact time in sprinting is what separates fast from slow runners. Two runners could have the same mechanics but one has a shorter foot contact time which means he is running faster. Connor on the mound as a longer foot contact time than Brandon which is why Brandon has a more explosive 3X.

Where are you guys in the 3X Pitching Velocity program?

Moved to the pre season after week four per your recommendation.  He is now two weeks into preseason.
