OfflineBrent: I last uploaded a video of Evan about 3 weeks ago. He is now just finishing week 14 of the program. Since your last analysis I have asked him to focus on solidifying the landing leg so that the knee does not drift forward — I think he is doing a better job with this. There was also an issue last time with a short pause in his delivery after the landing — I think he has also improved on this. Thanks, John
current 1RM: squat 250, bench 150, clean 140 (body weight of 170).

OfflineBrent: Evan has been working on starting sooner and also not lifting his front foot higher during the stride, but rather driving down the mound. With these changes he feels like his front foot is landing sooner (the time from the start of the motion to front foot landing is shorter). This has thrown off his arm action so he feels out of sync (his arm is late). By holding his hands a little higher, and breaking them sooner, the arm seems to be sync'ing up better with the legs. Do you have any other suggestions for things he can try? Thanks, John

OfflineThis is now strictly a speed and power issue. Now that he is moving in a more linear direction and his foot is closer to the ground he needs to build more speed and power to explode through a full stride like when he was more vertical. I tell my guys who struggle with this to move faster with the lower half and not to try changing the upper half. The reason hard throwers have a more linear force vector in the "Load" position and can still 3X a good foot or more off the rubber before front foot strike is because they are some of the fastest and most explosive athletes is sports.
Evan needs to continue with the program. It may take some time for him to develop this kind of power based on his age.

OfflineBrent: just to make sure I understand, you're saying to continue focusing on the lower-half force vector, speed and power; the upper half (including the arm) will eventually "catch up" and be back in sync?
Also, I just purchased Level 2 since Evan should be ready to start this next week. How long should he continue Level 2? In January he starts once a week indoor workouts with his summer team; at the beginning of February his school team starts practicing daily. When should he transition to an in-season program? Thx, John

OfflineYes, use the Level 2 program to continue to build more power in his lower half and yes his upper half will work more efficiently as the lower half gets stronger and moves faster. The level 2 program is a lot more intense, so it will do the trick. He also will be throwing only two days a week to focus on this power production.
He should get through as much of the program as he can before he starts his pre-season in January. I should have the pre-season program finished by then but at that point he needs to lower his strength and power training and move into more throwing and endurance training to prepare for season. I also have Velocity Camps this December if you guys want to come down. Either way he has two off-season programs that will get him through the rest of December and he can also use them next off-season to build again.
