hey, Brent. this is a great site. Just wondering, can i do the just exercises from the hatch dome thing (warmup routine, back squat, front squat, clean pull, power clean, squat clean, split jerk, clean and jerk, snatch pull power snatch, power snatch overhead squat, full snatch and the plyometric drills) for my strength and conditioning? (not worrying about the mechanics part in my strength and conditioning program) or is there stuff in the program specifically for pitchers? I want to get started with my program and I will hopefully get the program soon :D.

Coach Hatch is a great place to start learning the lifts. You then need to move on to the entire 3X Pitching Velocity program because it has the throwing program and a ton of great info on the approach including the details on all the 3X mechanics.

I think he meant that should he do these lifts only or are their other lifts in the program that are pitcher specific. I don't think he is talking about the throwing program part of the program but as a strength and conditioning program.

Hey tendonitis, in actual fact, I still don't have the 3X velocity program since my parents didn't want to give me the money to buy the program and they don't see how committed I am to becoming a major leaguer, and here in Australia not many are being sent up to the drafts and minor league and so on. Brent please don't kill me for this >.<. So for my program I have been using the lifts that you mentioned and some other kinds of drills I made up to incorporate the 3X mechanics into my delivery. Brent has been a very nice person giving away lots of his approach for free. (but anyway when someone buys a program, they simply ask them instead of buying the program themselves) since I have spent so much time reading his articles watching all his analysis I have learnt a lot about the 3X mechanics and I just need to strengthen myself as an athlete and I could simply get a quarterbacks workout that incorporates lifts. :D

The Fusion system is the complete strength and conditioning program in the 3X Pitching Velocity program. It has all of the Hatch Lifts and exercises but used a little differently along with a ton more. They are also laid out in a calender showing you what drills, lifts and exercises to do on what days which is critical to developing power and gaining velocity.

I know it is a good investment and it does take a high level of commitment to complete the program but it will be the best money you have ever spent in your career. I guarantee it!

I was just wondering what purpose the upper body workouts like benching and pull ups and push ups had? I always here from coaches that you don't want to lift weights and that is what they are talking about.

The bench press develops the Pectoralis Major which connects to the Humerous bone which is the bone of the arm that attaches to the shoulder. This means the stronger and faster the Pectoralis Major can help move the humerous bone, the harder the pitcher throws. Now it isn't the only muscle that helps move the humerous but it is one of the biggest.

Pull-ups develop the Latissimus Dorsi which also connects to the Humerous bone and also helps move the arm. This means if you can train it to move faster then it will also help the pitcher throw harder.

The reason these coaches are advising against weight training is because they more than likely came from the non weight training era. This means they have no education in the field of strength and conditioning because they never used it in their careers. They also more than likely do not have strength and conditioning certifications. Basic logic tells you that weight training can promote muscle development and bigger, stronger, faster, muscles create better athletes. If weights can not help pitchers throw harder then why do football players use weight training? Throwing a football or sprinting past a defender is no different muscularly than pitching. When a coach tells you that you can't do something and he does not have a reason, you need to question him and see if he knows what he is talking about before you believe him. I guarantee you those coaches who are telling you that weight training is bad would tell you that most of the information on this site is worthless.

The problem will be for a youth player or high school player to tell his coach he doesnt believe in what the coach does.

The dads on here who spend all this time learning the dos and donts of baseball, mechanics, conditioning, etc. Might not get the opportunity to coach their son and will be stuck with a coach who doesnt know anything. I hate to be one of those dads who thinks hes smarter then the coach, but I am.

there are coaches out here, and Im sure everywhere, who will never except changeConfused. When I introduced, rotational hitting and dynamic stretching vs static, dads threw a fit!
