One of the main theories that I've heard opposed to weight training is that it will limit your flexibility because your muscles will always be tight and then that will hurt your pitching ability. Will a good stretching routine eliminate this problem?

Yes, the 3X Pitching Velocity program uses a Dynamic Stretching routine before the strength and conditioning program to support mobility. It also uses mostly total body lifts and exercises which do not cause a lot of joint tightness like when isolating a single muscle during a lift, similar to a body building weight training program. If you learn how to lift weights correctly along with a good flexibility routine and a anaerobic conditioning program, you will actually improve your flexibility along with your overall athletic ability.

The #1 velocity enhancement program in the world. This program has helped hundreds reach their velocity goals. If you want to know what it is like to throw 90+mph then you must purchase this revolutionary approach to velocity TODAY!

yea, Houdini, weight training will not limit your pitching ability. I've heard somewhere that when you sprint, you move your body weight. When you're lifting weights, you lift more than your body weight. The same way with adding a weight onto your bat, so when you take it off it feels lighter and it feels like you swing faster. Which is why weightlifting is key to gaining velocity.

Money, I agree with you. It's either the coach or the dad's problem in changing the way their pitcher pitches. You simply have to tell them in the beginning of the season (to dads) that what you're doing is beneficial, show him the scientific evidence to convince him, or if you're in the middle of the season tell them that what you did is wrong and you want to change it. then for a dad, they just make their child look like he is following coach's orders but do your normal workout during the week. If that's not possible then tell the coach, if he doesn't agree, you could always find another club :D. I know a few friends who go to several different clubs each season.

Thanks Brent. That's really helpful information and definitely becoming more flexible is something that would really help me when I pitch.

Zedoryu that is a great analogy. Thanks for the reply.

I would love to change clubs!! That's why I want to start my own. We are not allowed to leave our town and play elsewhere W/O a signed release from our organization. The league we play in will also, not allow a team without a bonafide baseball orginization to claim it.

You would think that they would accept any team for the benefit of the kids. But unfortunately too many organizations that are out there, are more concerned about the money side VS the kids side. The topic of changing teams and definition of competitive baseball are on the top of my list of "things to change", or we move…. I will move my son wherever I need to, to help him grow as a ball player. I am not the first dad who has done it and I wont be the last…. I will not have him play for coaches with distorted beliefs and foundations, just because he thinks he knows baseball!!

The sad thing about living in small towns is, they can monopolize things!! Yell
