OfflineIn our fast twitch muscle recruitment topic, you talked about one of the main components to a strength training program is over speed training. I have a slight idea what it is, but I need clarification. Is it training with assistance or something so that you can run faster than your best speed? Can you also give examples of it? ;P thank you.

OfflineYes, over speed training is assisting the speed of the movement. This approach is more common with sprinters where they use a long band and a partner to tow the athlete and assist his sprint. There is pros and cons to this training style. The pros is it gives the central nervous system a feeling of moving at or above the bodies top speed. The cons is it could cause injury or it could degrade mechanics. I recommend using this approach in a training program but use it sparingly.
In use this approach in the level 2 program with the pitching mechanics. I use it to help the pitcher get a feel of what it is like to move at his top speed through the mechanics. The drills are called the 3X Assistance drills.
