Hello Brent….
I am constantly wondering if
there are any age limits to gain velocity? (for example, if I was 27 years old
and I am trying to work my way to have the ability to throw 80mph to 90 mph in
a couple of years from now?)
Sincere Regards
Good question! Velocity does have an age factor. It has to do with the aging process. When we age our body slows down the production of growth and sex hormones. This means when we stop growing our body is not producing as much of these hormones. These hormones are important because they do not only promote growth but also lean muscle mass and fast twitch muscle fiber. Fast twitch muscle fiber is what makes us move quickly and if you understand anything about velocity you will know that speed is velocity. The age that hormonal production begins to decrease is around 18-20 years of age. Now this doesn't mean if you are over the age of 20 your chances of gaining velocity are over! What you must use here is simple logic. Your body slows down hormonal production when your growth plates are closed and your DNA is not programmed to grow any larger. The logic is, DNA growth promotion equals growth and sex hormonal production. Therefore pushing your DNA to grow will in return promote growth and sex hormonal production. This can be done with a strength and conditioning program focused on this hormonal production. The Ace Pitcher Handbook Fusion system is one of these programs along with the nutritional guidelines and supplementation. This is your answer. The only reason a 27 year old cannot gain anymore speed or velocity is if he has maxed out his strength and speed potential through training.
