OfflineOne thing that I noticed that I do with my stride foot is that I land slightly on my heel. After I land on my stride heel, I drag my drive foot on the ground really hard, for at least 2 feet (I've been doing this for a long time, and to the point where I have holes in the toes of my cleats), and I think I drag my drive foot so much because of an improper weight shift. I think there is too much weight still on my drive leg after my stride foot has landed.
I think if I stopped landing on my heel, I would achieve a better weight shift, and I wouldn't leave so much weight on my drive leg after foot strike.
I think this would help my whole delivery, and give me better command and velocity. What are your thoughts on this?

OfflineI have no problems with landing slightly on your lift leg heel or dragging your drive leg hard for two feet. Lincecum, Bauer and Chapman all do this as well. I also have ruined hundreds of my shoes because of this. I am not sure you have accurately pointed out your mechanical flaws. Your issues are you generate poor stride power. You have a poor first move and you do not triple extend your drive leg before front foot strike. Because of this you do not coil up much during hip to shoulder separation, so you are forced to pull your throwing arm and head down to generate most of your velocity. None of these issues have to do with how you land. It has everything to do with how you start your delivery and how you generate power. Focusing on how your front foot is landing to try and increase velocity would be like a sprinter changing how his feet are landing to try and increase his overall speed.

OfflineWell, i think that sprinters actually change the way they land because they need to drive off that foot as well. Unlike pitchers we only need to drive our drive leg, so it doesn't matter how we land because it has nothing to do with power production. Back to the sprinter, i think i heard somewhere that if your foot is at a 45 degree angle from the ground and your leg is down, you get more speed because it's like getting the force vector in line. :D if i'm wrong just correct me on that..

OfflineOh wait…what I said in the previous was correct but I also mean that sprinters only land on their power pads because they need to be as quick as possible and that when you land on your heels you are like breaking instead of accelerating but that puts more pressure on the legs. But a pitcher as I said doesn't need to drive off the lead leg so there really is no point to change where you land.

OfflineI feel like it's easier to land flat on my foot flat if I triple extend (at least as much as I can, as I'm still getting a idea of how to do it). I get just a tiny bit higher and I have more forward moment, so I can land on my foot better. I wasn't actually going to change anything, I was just wondering if this was something worth looking at. Thanks for the input.
