Everywhere I go I have been getting this question.  It has been an unique year, but not surprising.

In the playoffs there are 2 kinds of pitchers.

  1. Pitchers who love the pressure, stay aggressive and pitch to win.
  2. Pitchers who PITCH NOT TO LOSE.
Pressure and expectations can take a toll even on the best players in the world.
Every pitch counts, mechanical flaws get exposed and the moment gets the best of them.
The difference in D. Holland in his last start, he pitched aggressive and attacked the Cardinal hitters inside.
Don't get me wrong I am not saying it is easy,
But now you know why most Major League pitchers will tell you pitching is 90% mental.
There is a great lesson for all young pitchers in this, stay aggressive, trust your preparation and pitch to win.
