The Dangers & Alternatives To Max Distance Long Toss

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · May 4, 2013

I know you don’t want to read this article because it looks long and complicated and you want to be lazy but if you can just man up and take the next 5 minutes to read this, it will change your understanding of pitching forever!

Dangers an Alternatives to Max Distance Long TossDon’t kill the messenger. I know the title, “The Dangers & Alternatives to Max Distance Long Toss” is provocative but this is strictly for promotion purposes, I promise! Yes, I want everyone in the game of baseball to know the facts behind this approach to training the pitcher so I am promoting this information and I am not ashamed as some may believe but honored to do this for the baseball community. I am also promoting the 3X Pitching Velocity Program as an alternative to max distance long toss because it affords me the time to put together this kind of research for today’s young pitcher and it works!

The reason everyone gets so emotional and worked up when you talk about max distance long toss is because the majority of people believe you are talking about throwing the ball farther than 60 feet. Max distance long toss is not from 61 feet and beyond. I am defining max distance long toss at 180 feet and beyond and this article will show you why this distance is important and why all pitchers need to understand this. Read more

Magic Bullet High Velocity PitchingSo have you heard about the Velocity Pill? It is the magic bullet to pitching velocity. I have had it available on this website for years and the response I have received has been priceless.

If you haven’t learned about this pitching velocity pill, that will give you a 90 mph fastball in less than one minute, then you need to check it out. This revolutionary technology comes out of Japan and it is totally bogus. Yes, this is a joke and yes many people have fallen for it.

I actually had a call today about the velocity pill and it went like this, “Hello, what the f@#k is this velocity pill all about? This looks like a bunch of bull shit to me! CLICK.” Priceless! I just love it when pitchers fall for this. If you don’t know what I am talking about, then checkout the page and make sure you hit the BUY NOW button. Read more

Study Proves Arm Path Most Effective For Increasing Pitching Speed

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · January 2, 2013

Greg Maddux Arm Path PitchingA popular and conventional topic of pitching mechanics is “Arm Path.” This means the path the arm takes out of the glove into pitch release. Do you break your hands early or late? Do you swing the arm up or down? Do you through your elbows high or low? Do you break your arms hard or soft? Does any of this even matter?

The major issue with just coaching the “Arm Path” to increase pitching velocity is like telling the passenger in the car to start pushing the car so we can go faster. It is a backwards approach to pitching velocity and like the passenger in the car, it is better to tell him to just hold on for the ride. Read more

Boost Pitching Velocity With The 3X Power Burst

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · September 5, 2012

3X BurstNo, this is not the next big baseball product launch to boost pitching velocity brought to you by some online marketing company. The 3X Power Burst or 3X Burst is the real deal and it is a game changer!

This is a coaching tip that is a major part of the 3X Pitching Velocity Program and it holds the secret to how elite pitchers increase pitching velocity in their careers from 5-15 mph or more. Yes, I am giving this secret to a massive increase in pitching velocity away here for FREE!

This means my inbox is going to be inundated with emails telling me that I am crazy for giving this revolutionary information that can change a pitchers career overnight for nothing. I don’t care, I was a pitcher in my career who searched for this information for too long and I didn’t find it until the very end of my career when I discovered it myself. Training with Brent Pourciau at Guerilla Baseball Academy was one of the best choices I have made in my life. All my life coaches told me I was the “Crafty Lefty” and that I didn’t need to throw hard to get guys out. Honestly I got so tired of hearing it and knew I needed to make a huge change if I wanted to pursue a legitimate career in baseball. So I went down to work out with Brent and take the first step in changing my career. Read more

Post-Activation Potentiation: A Pitching Velocity Phenomenon

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · March 20, 2012

My biggest pitching idol growing up was Nolan Ryan. I worshiped his Pitching Bible like it was, “The Bible.” In this book he lists his everyday routines as a professional ball player, from what he ate to his strength training program. This was the first time I had ever heard about a pitcher lifting weights. What absolutely blew my mind was when he talked about his weight training circuit he would do just before pitching a game. I thought this was revolutionary. Why was he doing this and was it the secret to his success? I never discovered the answer to this question until trying it in my own career and also learning about a muscle phenomenon called, Post-Activation Potentiation. Read more

The 3X To 2X Factor To Pitching Velocity

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · February 1, 2012

3X to 2X Pitching velocityIf you have spent any time on this site you have learned the importance of triple extension to building explosive power in the pitching delivery. The 3X approach to pitching velocity labels this as the 3X Factor to pitching velocity. It is the foundation to the entire approach but it isn’t the only factor. 3X Pitching also describes the 2X Factor to pitching velocity which seems to be overlooked by many who believe that increasing pitching velocity only comes in the discovery of one secret or one component. 3X is important and will have a tremendous effect on pitching velocity but in combinations with 2X it is what the elite pitcher needs to perform at his top velocity. Top 10 Pitching Secrets To Prevent Injury

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · December 11, 2011

pitching injury, injury prevention, secrets to prevent injuryPitching velocity secrets are in a lot higher demand than secrets to preventing injury. The deal is they should both go hand and hand. Who wants to increase velocity at a higher risk of injury? This is the problem with most pitching velocity tips is that they come with a price. I developed 3X Pitching with both pitching velocity and injury prevention as top priorities.

Let’s face it, throwing the ball at your top velocity is risky but so is returning punts in the NFL. If we are going to enhance our ability while promoting a long and healthy career, we must understand how our bodies work and how to prevent injury. The American Sports Medicine Institute has already informed the public that pitching injuries spawn from three main factors; Overuse, Poor Physical Fitness and Poor Mechanics. To take this information further, I will list here the top 10 pitching secrets to prevent injury in order from the most significant to the least but still significant. Read more

Baseball’s 6th Tool

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · July 15, 2011

By Mark Brooks

Since the Earliest baseball legends began breaking records, transforming into heroes and inspiring nations, there was an element to these player’s success that for the most part have been overlooked by society in how their success is achieved in the game of baseball.

I’m talking about a tool that the greatest players have utilized whether they have known it or not. It’s more powerful than having a cannon for an arm because it can help you achieve it. It’s more consistent than speed and even more dangerous than incredible hand eye coordination. It fact it will give the talent to be a great hitter that none of the best baseball hitting drills can even think to offer. Read more

The #1 Reason Pitchers Never Reach Their Top Velocity

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · July 6, 2011

Commitment Pitching VelocityI am going to come clean here. I have been doing this long enough and I have sold enough programs on this site to know that 3X is the only program to legitimately increase pitching velocity. I get an email a day from pitchers telling me how amazing 3X Pitching is. I appreciate all of these emails, this is what keeps me doing this but my response is always I know, because it worked for me. I am not trying to prove anything here but that 3X Pitching really works.

The problem is those who don’t take the time to learn the 3X approach or those who never commit to the program. I shouldn’t be frustrated by these people because these are those people who will never reach their goals in life. These are those people who will always need help and who will always complain that they got screwed in the end. I am only frustrated because I know that these are the people that need 3X the most. The problem is how do I help them if they do not want it or they do not want to commit? Read more

Pitching With Your Legs

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · June 20, 2011

Pitching with your LegsI heard a story about Roger Clemens once about pitching with your legs. It went something like this.

Roger was in high school and Nolan Ryan was his favorite pitcher. He always wanted to see his rocket arm up close and personally, so one day he got a ticket to watch him pitch in Houston for the Astros. He showed up early to the game so he could watch him throw his bull pen. Roger went over to the pen and waited for Nolan to show up. He was expecting to see this long explosive arm rocketing the ball to the catcher. What he noticed immediately when Nolan started to throw was the size and power of his legs. He could not believe that he had not notice the essences of Nolan Ryan’s power, which was his legs. This convinced Roger that if he was going to have a rocket arm like Nolan, then he too would have to develop big and powerful legs. Read more

Pitchers Power Drive Position

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · June 12, 2011

Pitchers Power Drive PoistionThink power and drive! The pitchers first few movements in his delivery is critical to his overall velocity. Just like a sprinters first step is more significant to his overall time than any other step in his sprint. If a pitcher fails to hit some key components in the beginning of his delivery then his pitching velocity will suffer. These key components would put the pitcher into his Power Drive Position.

There currently is a gimmick that supposedly helps the pitcher to get into this position but the problem with these gimmicks is if you cannot pitch with this device in a game, what use does it have for the pitcher? If the pitcher can not put himself into this power drive position without the device then it is a total waste of money. I have never worked with the device, so this is not a review.

The 3X Pitching Velocity Program trains the pitcher through drills to achieve this Power Drive Position. I will cover some of these components here that are in full detail in the 3X Pitching Velocity Program. Read more

How To Gain 5 MPH On Your Fastball

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · April 18, 2011

How to Gain 5 MPH on Your FastballAdding 5 MPH to your fastball can be a tough challenge if you do not know what you are doing. You definitely will not accomplish this using conventional wisdom. Old school approaches like extreme long toss, weighted balls or speed chains may get you close but the pitching speed increase will eventually go away or may not even transfer to the mound.

It is important to understand that you want to add 5 MPH to your fastball on the mound, not only on flat ground. Throwing from the mound uses  a different kinematic sequence than on flat ground. This must be a main focus of the velocity enhancement program.

When I developed the revolutionary approach to pitching velocity called 3X Pitching, I first analyzed some of the hardest throwers in the game to try and discover their secrets. I wasn’t as interested in their training programs because most of these hard throwers, I felt, had superior genetics. I knew that if I could learn what they were doing mechanically, which was causing them to throw so hard, I could then try to emulate these mechanics through training my body to move like theirs. I believed that this was a good strategy for success. I soon learned that this was true. Read more

FREE Pitching Chart Download

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · November 22, 2009

FREE Pitching Chart DownloadsA pitching chart is a very valuable tool for a pitcher and a coach. For the pitcher it shows you your weaknesses and strengths. It tells you what pitches are working on what batters and what pitches are not working on what batters. It also tells you how many pitches you are throwing per inning which is valuable information for your Coach. Your Coach should know your limit and be prepared to rescue you if you are getting close to your redline. Read more

Why Pitchers Should ICE Their Arms?

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · May 9, 2009

Icing Pitching ArmThere is a lot of controversy around pitchers and icing their arms post game. After surgery I was very strict when it came to icing post game. I know that it isn’t enough for me here to just say that, “Hey, I did it, so you should too.” So, I took some time to research the web and I found several websites reference the work of Dr. Meeusen from Antwerp, where I played some professional baseball. He based his life study around icing as a means to help heal a damaged muscle. His documentation describes how ice can be effective and where it can cause problems.

Does Velocity Come From The Arm Or The Body?

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · April 16, 2009

timThis question can stir up a big argument but there is only one answer. The arm does not generate the velocity. It only guides the pitch. Therefore the arm must follow the body and does not come into play until the body has done its job. This was the conclusion of a study performed by the famous Dr. Jobe back in the 1980′s. Here is the actual result from the case study:
