Does Strength and Speed training improve pitching velocity? Most pitching coaches will say NO because either they have no experience with it or because they have no understand of the science behind it. The answer or should I say the secret is YES!

All you have to do is read the science behind it and also look at the results. The most recent example is Tim Collins. He is the pitcher for the Kansas City royals. He used a strength and conditioning program to increase his velocity from 82mph to 97mph in about 3 years. Another advocate for Strength training is Josh Beckett. This is a pic of him during his off-season training program. Here is one of his quotes from the Men’s Fitness article here:”

“What you do during the offseason is, first, build a base,” he said. “That takes about three weeks, and then you try to get as strong as you can before you go to spring training. Once you get there, you taper down and it’s just a maintenance program for the next six or seven months.” – Josh beckett

You can learn more about his strength training program in the article.

Another great example of a pitcher who used strength training, is the famous pitcher that they did the movie about called, “The Rookie.” Jim Morris was interviewed here on this site and he talks about his intense, heavy weight training program that he did religiously. You also have Roger Clemens, John Rocker and many other pitchers who had insane intense strength and conditioning programs. Any coach that would tell you strength training is a waste of time and will injury you, is clueless. Just do your research and you will discover immediately how effective strength and speed training is for pitchers.

The best example here at Topvelocity.net, with the 3X Pitching velocity program which includes a very intense strength and conditioning program is Mitchel Sewald. He is 17 and has been on the complete 3X program for the past 5 months. He went from 82mph to 92mph and just recently committed to LSU with a full ride. He has yet to even play his senior year in high school.

Here is an interview I did with him before he committed to LSU.

The Myths Behind Strength Training for Pitchers

Strength training with make a pitcher tight and less flexible.

Strength training for a pitcher will increase his chance of injury.

Strength training for a pitcher will reduce his velocity.

Strength training for a pitcher will hurt his mechanics.

Strength training must include a program that was developed for the pitcher but if done correctly all of these myths are untrue. If a proper strength and conditioning program is used for a pitcher then here is a list of the benefits. This is no different for any sport and any position.

The Benefits of Strength and Conditioning for Pitchers

Along with these benefits is an article with more information to support these claims.

The Research to support Strength and Speed training for Pitchers

Characteristic ground-reaction forces in baseball pitching. You can view the study here http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9474404. This was the final results of the study:

This study validates the clinical impression that the lower extremity is an important contributor to the throwing motion. Based on this study, strengthening of the lower extremities could be inferred to be important both to enhance performance and to avoid injury.

Baseball Throwing Velocity: A Comparison of Medicine Ball Training and Weight Training. Here is a link to the entire study. This is an excerpt from the results of the study:

The results of this study suggest that the use of heavier loads has been more effective than the medicine ball training in increasing velocity…..

Kaneko et al, determined that training with heavier loads of 100% maximal voluntary contractions (MVC) resulted in increases not only in strength but also in unloaded movement speed. Similarly, a training study by Schmidtbleicher and Buehrly found that the use of relatively heavy loads of 80-90% MVC enhanced the performance of powerful dynamic movements more effectively than light loads.

Velocity specificity of resistance training. Here is the entire study http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8341872. This is an excerpt from the results of the study:

A recent review by Behm and Sale concluded that balistic movements such as throwing and jumping are preprogrammed and that maximum limb velocity is determined principally by the rate of force development and overall force output. Improvement in these factors does not seem to require low load, high velocity training, but rather heavy loads or even isometric contractions. Research by Behm and Sale demonstrated that it may be the intention to move quickly that determines the velocity-specific response.

When it comes to training the power pitcher, you must not only have a good understanding of pitching mechanics but strength and conditioning. The problem is most pitching coaches have a very poor understanding of strength and conditioning and most strength and conditioning coaches have a very poor understanding of pitching mechanics.

The Cycle of Ignorance

I usually ask those pitchers who are in a top level college program where the college has a strength and conditioning coach and a pitching coach, “If these two coaches were in the same room together, would they have much in common? Would they spend much time together?” The answer is always, NO! These two coaches have nothing in common and in most cases they never speak to each other. This lack of communication and education is a major problem for the pitching community. What this creates is pitching coaches who deter their pitchers from using strength and conditioning coaches by giving them misinformation like; strength and conditioning will only make you bulky and less flexible. The reason most pitching coaches are misinformed is because they are teaching their pitchers exactly what their pitching coaches taught them. I like to call it the “Cycle of Ignorance” and baseball has been caught in this cycle for a very long time.

Now that pitchers are throwing harder and there are more hard throwing pitchers, this “Cycle of Ignorance” has forced pitching coaches into the belief that they must reinvent the wheel to develop the power pitcher, so they can produce competitive pitchers in today’s game. This re-inventing of the wheel is seen in pitching training programs where the pitcher is required to push tractors and carry old tires to help them develop strength and power. A strength and conditioning coach, who is certified in the science of exercise fitness, who has an above average understanding of physiology and kinesiology, does not need to re-invent the wheel when training a power pitcher in this way. This coach would use power movements like the Olympic lifts or resistance sprints to develop the same type of power and strength in the pitcher, instead of having to use a tractor and an old tire. Ultimately, the Olympic lifts and the resistance sprints are a better and safer method for developing the power pitcher because it comes with a series of proven techniques to help prevent injury while developing strength and power because these techniques have been developed by a large organization of strength and conditioning coaches over the years.

I am not saying that all out of the box training programs are re-inventing the wheel but I do find a lot of risky training methods that could be a lot safer and better for the pitcher, if they first looked for an exercise or drill from the strength and conditioning field. If a pitching coach was to study and learn from the strength and conditioning world or actually get to know that strength and conditioning coach, he would fine that it has all been done. More than likely his head would explode and he would eventually question why he never opened his eyes to this type of training in the first place. This was my experience in my career when I started to learn from the strength and conditioning world as a pitcher. I felt like a fool! I listened to the baseball community my entire career and they were telling me I should not pay attention to these “Gym Rats” or “Meat Heads,” because pitchers are not power athletes. Once I realized pitchers were power athletes and strength and conditioning coaches have been improving and building power athletes for years, I then bought into their methods and started learning more about performance than ever before. Now when I work with pitchers as a pitching coach and strength and conditioning coach myself, I can’t believe how uneducated most pitching coaches are and how much of a disservices they are doing to the pitching community.

Strength and Conditioning the Power Pitcher

The most effective way to develop a power pitcher in the off-season as a strength and conditioning coach and a pitching coach, is to separate the training program into two parts. The first part is the motor coordination training and the second part is the strength development training. Most strength and conditioning coaches, who do not have the pitching experience, fail during the motor coordination training. This is because this training must involve developing the motor coordination around the pitching mechanics and most strength and conditioning coaches have no clue of good pitching mechanics. I would even say most pitching coaches have no clue of good pitching mechanics but this is for another article. This means the motor coordination training must involve drills to help develop the motor coordination of good pitching mechanics. You do not want to include strength development during this motor coordination training. After training motor coordination you then want to move into strength development. This would involve drills and exercises that help breakdown the big and small muscle groups in an controlled environment to promote a higher hormonal production which in return will build the athlete bigger, stronger and faster. This increase in muscles growth based around this style of strength training also remodels the muscle fibers and grows more motor units. So not only does the pitcher have more powerful muscles but more motor units to control these powerful muscles. This is the ideal strategy in developing the power pitcher and it should not be seen as an “Out of the box” approach or unconventional because this is the same strategy the strength and conditioning world uses with all the power sports.

The 3X Pitching Velocity program has been developed around this approach to training the pitcher at the youth and professional levels. This is why the 3X program has been so effective in meeting its claims of adding 5-10mph in 16 weeks. If you are willing to look outside of the conventional wisdom of the game for a complete approach to increasing velocity then you must check out the 3X Pitching Velocity program TODAY!

Overuse has been considered the primary factor for most pitching injuries. Performing the same motion over and over again leads to what the strength and conditioning and medical science world calls Pattern Overload. This is when the body uses load sharing to reduce the stress on the muscle group that is being overused. This causes dysfunctional motor coordination and creates instability in the joint which leads to poor mechanics and eventually injury.

Symptoms of Pattern Overload for Pitchers

If you are a pitcher who is experiencing these issues then it is possible that you could be suffering from Pattern Overload:

The Loss of range of motion in your throwing arm.

Your coach is telling you that you are not getting enough arm extension.

You are struggling with throwing strikes.

When you lift weights your throwing arm is weaker than your non-throwing arm.

When you throw, your shoulder pops and clicks and has pain in certain positions.

Pitching Pattern Overload

If you have never heard of Pattern Overload then you need to stop what you are doing and study this condition because it could end your pitching career. In layman’s terms this condition occurs when the same pattern is repeated over and over again, like when throwing a baseball. What happens is the rotator cuff muscles begin to fatigue, the larger muscles of the shoulder, chest and back start to take over the joints movements. This not only changes mechanics but it creates instability in the joint. Instead of the joint rotating efficiently, it then begins to rotate off its axis. If the pattern continues than this can lead to the dislocation of the joint or the joint pulling away from its capsule. This would be like pulling a can from a six pack and then trying to stick it back into the plastic ring that held it in place. It doesn’t work because the ring has been overstretch and is now bigger than the rim of the can. When this occurs, muscle and tendon/ligament damage is likely to occur which could lead to serious injury.

Pattern Overload is also detrimental to accuracy because of the loss of stability in the joint, the brain begins to loss control of the joint because of a proprioceptive deficit. This would be like changing the angle of the Axel on a remote control car. When you use the remote control to tell the car to turn right, it will over turn now because the Axel is not in its original position when the remote or brain was programed. This would be the same issue for a pitcher who is trying to hit the outside part of the plate but he continues to miss and miss.

How to recover from Pattern Overload?

If Pattern Overload leads to major muscle or tendon/liagment damage then surgery will be necessary and the joint will never be the same. If muscle or tendon/ligament damage isn’t as serious then rest and the termination of the pattern causing the issue is the first step. Here is the rest times for muscle or tendon/ligament damage.

Muscle Tissue: Strains and minor tears heal quite quickly. This is predominantly due to the fact that muscle has an ample blood supply. Research shows only 7 days after a muscle strain, strength levels are 92.5% of maximum.

Ligaments and Tendons: It’s generally accepted that there is little, if any, regeneration of these tissues once injured. The healing times of ligaments and tendons follow the natural, four phase progression of scar tissue development and maturation. The inflammation, granulation and fibroblastic phases begin within 24 hours, with wound closure happening in 5-8 days. The final stage, maturation, lasts between six months and one year. The scar is most responsive to stretch and remodeling for 8-10 weeks, and scar tissue shrinkage completes itself between 6 months and 1 year. Healing times for tendonitis will vary depending on how long it takes to identify the etiology of the problem! (1,2)

Once you have given the joint the proper time to rest and recover from the Pattern Overload and there is no more pain then it is critical that you build stability in the joint. This is when you must use a joint integrity program to strengthen the rotator cuff and rebuild integrity in the joint. The 3X Pitching Velocity program has a great joint integrity program.

Contraindicated Training

Studies have shown that most machine exercises in weight training facilities can enhance Pattern Overload. If a machine is putting you through the same movement where the path of the movement is not changing then this is promoting Pattern Overload. This is why these studies suggest Free Weight Training over Machine Training. When an athlete performs a lift with a free weight the athlete never takes the same path of movement through the exercise. This has to do with the brain controlling the movement to prevent Pattern Overload. It has been proven that no athlete ever takes the same path during a free weight lift or exercise.

Pitchers are always working against the effects of Pattern Overload. This is why they must avoid any type of machine training on the throwing arm especially in-season. It is also important to avoid any type of heavy loads on the throwing arm if a pitcher is suffering from Pattern Overload. Throwing heavy loads on the unstable joint will either force the larger muscles to take over more control of the joint and continue the detrimental effects of Pattern Overload or it will damage and injure the joint. This is why a Pitcher should not train with heavy loads in-season when Pattern Overload is most common.

If you are experiencing symptoms of Pattern Overload you must stop the pattern immediately and rest. If there is pain I recommend you see a sports medicine doctor. Once you are cleared and rested you must start a joint integrity program like in the 3X Pitching Velocity Program.

Pitching Velocity Specificity is based around two variables; pitching mechanics and physical fitness. The baseball world has a descent understanding of how important sound pitching mechanics are in producing an above average pitcher but they have very little understanding of how effective physical fitness is in producing an above average pitcher.

This has a lot to do with the trickle down theory. Most of baseball gets their education from Major League Baseball. The problem with the MLB is that they are made up of an elite group of athletes. Therefore the league does not have to spend a lot of time in physical development of their players because everyone they acquire is already developed. This is why they draft athletes over baseball players. If you want proof just look at the 2000 MLB draft when the Colorado Rookies Drafted Michael Vick in the 30th round. The last time Michael Vick played baseball was in the 8th grade. They drafted him because he is one of the best athletes in the country. The MLB would rather draft athletes than just baseball players because they know it is easier to turn an athlete into a pitcher than a pitcher into an athlete. This is why the MLB has very little knowledge and experience in physical fitness and development. So why does all the levels under the MLB look to them for guidance in physical fitness and development? Good question!

This is why sites like TopVelocity.net are popular because elite leagues like the MLB are not providing adequate information in the physical fitness and development of baseball players. This is also why their understanding of good pitching mechanics does not translate well to a physically underdeveloped pitcher.

Velocity Specificity

If you search velocity specificity on Google, you will discover a list of case studies on the topic. The reason for the studies is because of the demand for legal performance enhancement in sports. In the baseball world we are very aware of this demand for performance enhancement because illegal performance enhancing drugs have plagued the game for decades. These studies all look to the strength and conditioning world for this enhancement mainly because it is legal and it is effective. Strength and conditioning was first developed to rehabilitate the athlete from injury but what we discovered was that it not only rehabilitated the athlete, if continued, it would enhance performance. This is why today almost every top level college baseball team has some type of fitness expert on staff.

These velocity specificity studies have discovered, which is described in detail in the 5th study from the references below, that there is a lot of opposing theory around the most effective strategy to train velocity but all of the evidence does point to resistance training or weight training as the primary factor. Studies where a weight training group was compared to a non-weight training group proved that the weight training group always increased velocity. You will also find another 3-4 studies on this website with the same results. More important than the fact that resistance training or weight training is so effective in increasing velocity, is that in all cases where velocity was enhanced, the intent to move quickly was the consistent factor. It was more important than the load used during the training. The catch was heavy loads produced a higher intent to move quickly but if you lightened the load and could keep the same intent, velocity still increased. This means if you are training with 70% of your one rep max then you must move explosive enough to where your intent to move makes up for the other 30% of your max effort. This is extremely important to understand because you may not want to go really heavy with weights, so you must make up for this loss with your intent. This means you better train explosively if you are not training heavy which is not always easy to do.

As for velocity specificity when it comes to pitching mechanics it is most effective to develop the motor coordination through the entire kinetic chain as opposed to only training a few muscle groups like the throwing arm. This is where using weighted balls to train the shoulder is not as effective as using an weight training program to train the entire body and a throwing program to develop the motor coordination to use this total body power to increase velocity to the ball.

The 3X Pitching Velocity Program takes this approach and here is an introductory video to the 3X mechanics to learn more about total body explosive pitching mechanics.

I am really tired of hearing “Old School Coaches” saying weight lifting does not increase pitching velocity. I mean, REALLY! Coaches, what do you think Roger Clemens and his trainer Brian McNamee where doing together besides just the steroids? The problem is the coaches who are saying this are from the pre-steroid era.

Do your history! The pitchers from this era and before did not spend their time in weight rooms because they had to spend their off seasons making an honest living. This means they worked on farms like Bob Feller or were crab fisherman like Joe Dimaggio. Have you ever bailed hay or pulled a crab trap from the water? It is no different than power cleaning 150 pounds or more. Yes, these old ball players where lifting weights, it was just on the farms or the fishing boats. Just ask Bob Feller who lived his entire life as an advocate for fitness and today is still considered one of the games hardest throwers. He will tell you the importance of strength and conditioning for the elite athlete.

I want to show respect to these “Old School Coaches” because I used these coaches programs in the 90′s when I was playing but unfortunately all I got out of it was rotator cuff surgery at the age of 18. I do not credit these coaches for my injury but I do credit the lack of strength and conditioning before the surgery. More proof that these coaches are making bogus claims about weight training. I did an interview with the legendary Jim “The Rookie” Morris and asked him what he was doing, outside of his faith in God, to increase his velocity. His exact words from the interview that you can listen to on this site, “I was lifting a lot of weight!” He said that he was also a college football player and he looked outside of baseball to help him rehabilitate his career. We both shared this in common. I highly recommend that you listen to this entire interview with him.

In my career alone I trained with professional, college and high school top level players who religiously used a strength and conditioning program. They showed up almost everyday at the gym to worship the weight room gods. I also had the privilege to train with Dan Miceli during my rehabilitation years. He was a 15 year major league pitcher for the Padres, Rookies and many more and he would bench press 450lbs and leg press 800+lbs during his off season. He would go into spring training 35 pounds overweight. This was muscle not fat. He said he needed this weight because he would lose all of it in the next 3 months of the regular season and if he didn’t lift this way then he would lose a lot of his velocity late into the season.

I would like to hear those who speak out against weight training for pitchers explain why most of the Mitchell report was pitchers? This means MLB pitchers where using steroids along with a strength and conditioning program to increase velocity. I also learned this first hand from Jose Canseco when were teammates with the San Diego Surf Dawgs. Roger Clemens didn’t ruin his legacy by taking a performance enhancing drug like steroids because it was the cool thing to do. He extended his career because of it. If you know anything about steroids, it isn’t enough to just take this stuff and you will benefit. It will increase the benefits of a strength and conditioning program 10 fold if used correctly! This is why Roger Clemens needed a trainer like Brian McNamee to not only get him the drugs but to show him how to use them and how to use them with a strength and conditioning program to get the maximum gains in velocity and longevity.

If you really need more evidence of weight training for the pitcher/athlete and you do not want to read the countless number of sites that support it for athletes all over the web then I have posted some articles below to show scientific proof that weight training is critical for increasing velocity. Also once you purchase the 3X Pitching eBook you will find it loaded with even more weight training information to support these claims.

I feel that it is popular to believe that weight training does not increase pitching velocity because most people are looking for the easy way out. Most people in this game really want to believe that velocity comes in a mechanical adjustment alone or a secret device that they will one day discover online and it will change their career forever. This is why these pitching gimmicks show up on infomercials at 2 in the morning because they know that their or thousands of baseball players sitting at home waiting for the easy way out.

If lifting weights doesn’t increase pitching velocity then everyone who doesn’t have the genetics is screwed and they should just quit. Wouldn’t life really suck if it was just that simple? I mean for God’s sake, isn’t that why weight training was invented in the first place. It was invented because some highly determined individual wanted to enhance his genetics so he could accomplish a goal that his undeveloped genetics would not support. This is also why weight training is used in almost every single D1 University baseball program along with the best high school programs in the country. It works, for not just football players but all athletes!

I am not telling every pitcher to go out and start throwing around weight but I am saying that if you are sick of waiting for your velocity to increase then get into a weight room and turn yourself into an elite athlete. It will not happen overnight but if you work hard enough and smart enough, you will train your body to move like the hard throwers and then you will quickly learn that this was all you needed to do to start throwing like them too!

In the game of baseball, all skills require small muscle groups moving big muscle groups. This means you must use a strength and conditioning program that not only develops you to become Bigger, Stronger, Faster but it builds joint integrity as well. Most training programs neglect either the effectiveness of training the big muscle groups and only isolates the small muscle groups and vice verse. A training program that is built around both muscle groups is far superior to the others.

It is important to also make sure that you are educated in the mechanics of the lifts. The Olympic lifts are some of the most powerful lifts in the weight room to training the athlete to grow Bigger, Stronger, Faster. These lifts though are as intricate as learn proper throwing or hitting mechanics. You must spend as much time learning these lifting mechanics as you spend learning your throwing or hitting mechanics. This would mean you need a program that comes with a trainer who is educated enough to coach these lifts or a training video that will replace the trainer. You will find some great training videos below along with the baseball training programs.

What to look for in a effective baseball workout?

Olympic Lifts

Plyometric training

Medicine Ball training

Joint Integrity training

Anaerobic training

8 Week Cycle which includes a: base week, volumn week, recovery week and performance week.

Repititions based on one rep max percentages per lift.

Days off per week for full recovery.

If you like what you are reading here then I highly recommend that you purchase the Baseball Training Manual below. It is made up of the popular Fusion System. This is a Bigger, Stronger, Faster approach to training the baseball player. This program is ideal for all position players including pitchers. If you are a pitcher, I highly recommend that you purchase the 3X Pitching Velocity Program because this includes everything you will need to implement the benefits of this superior training program into your pitching mechanics.

If you would like a taste of what this type of training is all about before you purchase the Baseball Workout then check out the Beginner Baseball Workout.

If you are ready for the real deal then step up to the plate and take your game to a whole new level with the Baseball Training Manual.

In my last interview with the legendary guru of Speed and Strength Training, from D1 Sports in Tennessee, Kurt Hester, stated that Major League Baseball is using glorified physical therapy instead of strength and conditioning. This was a shot at the lame approach to training and rehabilitating athletes in the MLB organizations. This is coming from a guy who trains some of NFL’s most explosive athletes and who was label as Gorilla Ball, when he was training the LSU tigers in the 90′s.

Kurt says that fear is a major problem with baseball players. They train the way they do because of the fear that comes from the higher levels of the game. He also says that if young baseball players trained like Major League ball players, they would never get better. The fear is that weight training, especially heavy weight training, will make you bulky and will cause injury. Kurt says the MLB’s athletic trainers are running glorified physical therapy programs and not actually training their athletes to become bigger, stronger and faster. This is why I believe top draft picks and big salary pitcher’s like Mark Prior leave the league with a career ending injury, after only 3 years in the show, and never make it back.

This is the reason players like Barry Bonds carried his own trainers and doctors almost everywhere he went. Kurt said what makes athletes better is increasing force production. If you can train to move more explosively in a vertical or linear direction, then you are a better athlete because of it. This force production translates into running speed, bat speed and throwing velocity. This is the same approach he used when he trained the LSU Baseball team to 5 National Championships in the 90′s and 2000. He enhanced the force production of every athlete on the team and yes, even the pitchers benefited from it. They all became so developed that they were calling the LSU style of play, Gorilla Ball. This style of training, developed by Kurt Hester, was not only revolutionizing LSU baseball but the entire game. Kurt was receiving calls from Major League Managers who wanted to know why they were hitting so many runs, stealing so many bases, and their pitchers collecting so many K’s. When he would tell them that he was focusing on force production, through heavy load and triple extension training, these Major League Coach’s wanted to use his program but everyone of them shied away from the program because of the worries that they would be scrutinized for using this type of heavy load training in the MLB. Kurt says baseball is behind Golf when it comes to strength and conditioning.

Learn More about Kurt Hester

Kurt Hester is the National Director of Training for D1 Sports Training. He is known nationally for his energetic approach to training top-tier athletes.

Kurt is D1′s primary authority on sports training and is responsible for instilling the D1 training philosophy and making sure all D1 coaches properly implement and teach training programs and techniques. In addition, Kurt oversees D1′s NFL Combine Training Program.

Prior to D1, Kurt ran and owned HS2 Athletic Performance in New Orleans for nine years, where he turned out more than 400 collegiate scholarship athletes and trained more than 50 NFL draft picks. He also trained numerous MLB draft picks, high school All-Americans, state championship teams and collegiate National Track & Field finalists. Prior to HS2, Kurt was a strength & speed coach at LSU, Tulane and Southeastern Louisiana University. In addition, Kurt is still an active strength and speed consultant at Florida State, Tennessee, Illinois, Ole Miss, Alabama, Nichols State, Grambling State and the Unviersity of Miami.

Kurt, a graduate of Tulane Unviersity, was inducted into the Strength Coach Hall of Fame and holds various certifications through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, United States Weightlifting and the Speed, Agility and Conditioning Association. Kurt learned under USA Weightlifting coach, Gayle Hatch and speed coach, Tom Shaw.

If you would like to watch the interview with the legendary Kurt Hester, it is hosted on TopVelocity.net and is also a part of the 3X Pitching Velocity Program.

So you need a program that is going to make you Bigger, Stronger and Faster so you can kick some ass? Well, congratulations you have found the perfect program for making this happen! The question now is do you really want to do what it takes to turn yourself into an elite athlete? The reason they are called elite athletes is because only a few can put themselves into this category. All the others give up. Will you give up or will you make it to the promise land?

I was in the same position as you in my career. I was an average ball player and wanted to always play at the next level. Eventually my genetics wasn’t getting the job done, so I had to find something that would reconstruct my DNA and turn me into an elite athlete. This is when I met the legendary Coach Gayle Hatch and his protege Kurt Hester. If you want to learn more about them, then you must watch this priceless interview I did with the Godfather of strength and conditioning, Coach Gayle Hatch.

You will learn in this video that what they taught me was that if I wanted to be a successful baseball player then I needed first to become an athlete. I needed to develop more than just strength, I had to develop explosive strength. As Coach Hatch says, strength is of very little use to an athlete but explosive strength is what makes you effective on the field. Once I started training with his protege Kurt Hester I learned quickly what explosive strength was and how little of it I had. This was when I started to work to achieve my success, instead of just waiting for it.

This is one of the best programs out there for developing explosive strength. This program will model your body to have more fast twitch muscle fiber which will increase your running speed, hitting speed and throwing speed. This program will build joint integrity which will protect your joints as you increase the load of stress you are now putting on them because of the increased speed. This program has been proven and tested over and over and over again. It is called the Fusion System because it is not just focused on one muscle group, one series of exercises or lifts, or one method of training. It encompasses a fusion of exercises, lifts and methods of training to build the elite baseball player.

This program isn’t for everyone. It takes a tremendous amount of intensity and commitment. This isn’t a training program that you should just tryout. It is a program that you should have total faith in because you are certain that it will help you accomplish your goals and transform you into an elite athlete. Commitment doesn’t happen when someone takes an associate position. This means being committed in this program must begin when you purchase it. This is the reason this program is for sale. If it was free then this program would be setting you up for failure. You are asked to spend your hard earned money or your parents hard earned money to pay for something that will change your life. If you didn’t make this financial commitment in the beginning then you would be starting on the wrong foot towards your goals. So make the commitment from the begin when you spend your money on this program and don’t look back. This is the only way you will make it to the promise land one day!
