Hello my name is Tyler Didio and I am a sophomore at Sycamore High School. Two years ago I suffered a slightly torn shoulder labrum on a dive back to a base, and it has greatly affected my throwing motion. I don’t have the same over the top throwing motion I used to have, now I am dropping my arm as I throw the ball. I have been working on some of the basics with the Top Velocity program on and off for about four years. My 12u team had been apart of the program. Just wanting some advice by someone that may have had the same type of injury or throwing motion issues.

Thanks in advance for your time,
Tyler Didio

Sounds like you need to strengthen your shoulder and total body to get your mechanics back. Usually injury and surgery weaken the joint during the resting period and if not rebuilt the joint stays weak which will cause mechanics changes.

Thank you for the reply Mr. Pourciau I am playing on a summer travel team but not doing any pitching. I primarily play right field, so should I start on 3x beginner training over the summer? And are there any throwing drills that you would recommend that would help benefit me?

Thanks,
Tyler Didio

If you are not pitching I will go all out with the Ace Pitcher Handbook.

Mr. Pourciau i am onto week two of of the ace pitcher handbook. on box squat there are different colors listed on the workout. Are these different size boxes? If so what are the heights? I had no base max weight to go off of so went off body weight for percentages to start. It seems to be a good starting point or do you recommend something different. last question on the sand pit plyo’s how many sets do you recommend.

Thanks

Basically you have a 24 inch and an 18 inch box. The Volume and Performance weeks you can use the 18 inch and the others the 24inch.

Using your body weight is fine!

Sand Pit Plyo’s you can do 10 yards down and back 1-2 sets if you like.
