I was throwing about a month ago and hurt my ucl. According to the doctor after an MRI nothing is torn but it is fairly badly strained. I was wondering what a good plan of action would be for the rehab? Or really anything else in terms of information would be helpful. Thanks in advance

Brendan there is rehab protocol for Tommy John surgery in this article which you could follow to get your elbow some rest and rebuilding.

Hi!
I realise it’s been a while since this thread has been active, but I’ll give it a shot anyway!

I’ve been throwing without a real break for 2 years, experiencing severe valgus weakness throughout. I’ve compensated by extending the arm, which reduces UCL stress by about a third. In the last half a year, the joint itself has become unstable.

Now I haven’t thrown in 5 weeks and the joint moves smoother, yet any valgus stress I apply feels about the same as ever.

My suspicion is that UCL is torn and has been for a long time.

My question is – aside from MRI, is there any way to tell that with any certainty?

Thanks!
