starting olympic lifting | Strength and Conditioning | TopVelocity Baseball Forum
I am just getting into the 3x system and I am going to start Olympic lifting.
I have never done any Olympic lifting but I work out often and have done most basic lifts (squats, deadlifts, bench). My question is should I consult a trainer at my gym for the first time I do Olympic lifting or can I get by with going off the instruction in the video. I know no one has the perfect answer but I would appreciate some feedback on your experiences when you first started olifting.

I highly, highly recommend you do NOT try to learn Olympic Lifting on your own, and yeah you should get a trainer. I tried to learn on my own and it took forever to master the technique. I realize now that if I had just gotten a trainer I would have had the technique a lot quicker and much faster velocity gains.
