Well Im a 6 foot guy who strides about 110% of my height. I’ve been getting issues on getting over the front leg. Since im In season at the moment im shortening the stride as im getting less strikes in and leave the ball up. Is the reason why I can’t get over the front leg a strength issue?

However in the result of the shortening the front leg I feel much taller now. So a big guess is that my force vector is vertical instead of in line to the plate.

Hey mate, It’s gonna be fun playing Ryde tommorow. I’m from Blacktown and if you leave balls up your gonna get hammered, even from my team, haha. May I suggest that in your stride phase, have your nose directly over your belly button so when you land you can get over your front leg rather that having your head lag back and then when landing having to catch up with your legs. This I think is the case of you leaving your balls up and throwing less strikes.

Not finishing forward with a long stride is a strength/speed or power issue. When we increase stride distances we must increase stride speed at the same rate or we fall into these kind of issues. Shortening your stride for the moment does work but in the long run it will not support increasing your pitching velocity.
