from being a part of a college baseball program, I have gotten to see many pitchers. Most, if not all, of the REALLY good pitchers (ones that are MLB or Division 1 prospects) have a delivery that makes it tough to pick up the ball, along with having great tuff.

The top pitchers I have seen are really quick in their delivery, making the ball “get on” the hitter, or hide the ball well, along with having great stuff. It seems like this is what can turn a upper 80s – touching 90 type into a pro prospect. I have seen a few guys this year who touch 90 but are really not hard to hit, or even quality arms at all. Our closer is 85-88 but it looks more like 90+ because he just moves so quickly to the plate.

Do you think that 3X adds any deception in the delivery? I would think so, because it makes the pitcher quicker to the plate. Also, a lot of the best 3x guys (Tim Lincecum, for one) have a lot of deception in their motions, and hitters have a really tough time picking them up.

After reading all of the articles, especially the recent one about pronation, I am really beginning to see that 3X Pitching helps overall stuff, not just velocity. So I guess this is why I thought of this question.
