When you say to drive the shin to the ground to help you line up your force vector, what do you mean?

As your front hip is leading forward out of leg lift drive your drive leg chin down to keep your force vector moving with your front hip.

Oh, so do I move my shin to the side (towards my target), or to the front of me?

The shin is your Force Vector. It needs to point towards your front hip as you move into the Load position which is pointing towards the target.
