no leg lift | Talk Pitching | TopVelocity Baseball Forum

probably just a power issue. At the beginning of my season, my velocity was way up but I had a very small leg lift because I didn’t feel I could remain stable and loaded through my stride with a higher, more closed leg lift. As I kept up my strength and conditioning my mobility and strength has improved, and I feel I can lift my leg higher and more closed while staying stable. Plus if you are not capable of generating early momentum in the delivery, having a high leg lift is basically just wasted motion in my experience.
I’ll leave it to Brent and Kevin now.

Cage is right, having a high leg lift is not necessary at all. The leg lift can actually cause problems because of the athletes inability to use it effectively. Those problems can be opening early, and swinging the leg instead of driving it. Swinging the leg gives a lot of pitchers the false sense that they are triple extending.
