I tore my ACL and ended up having to take a spring season and fall season off. Before I tore my ACL my summer season I never had arm problems, arm never hurt or anything like that. Now sometimes my arm will hurt in different spots, such as one day hurt in my elbow, or the next time I pitch hurt in my shoulder. Does this mean Im changing my arm slot? Sometime I notice myself switching arm slots but don’t know the correct one to use. Sometimes I drop the ball down and come around to the “T”, or sometimes I just go straight back to form the “T”. Any drills to find my natural arm slot? Or should I just continue to follow the handbook cuz once I get my legs right my arm slot will follow? (Read that somewhere on here)

Don’t worry about your arm slot. The reason why you may have injured your ACL is because of the fact that you’re mechanics aren’t right and there’s no strength base. Why it didn’t hurt before the tear? It could’ve been a severe tear on that day you injured it, and usually people feel it is because the ligament starts to fray and pull apart. Unlike yours, it could have just gone rip. I’m no medical doctor or what not, but your pain shouldn’t be coming because of the arm slot. Whatever feels natural to you is your arm slot.

Wait, you’re talking about the ACL right? Not the UCL? The ACL is a ligament between the femur and the tibia. This tear is in the legs and should not be hurting your arm. But if it’s the ACL that’s torn, it’s most likely because you need to work on the deceleration phase of any movement. Because the ACL needs to stretch when you flex your leg, as you come to a sudden stop usually when changing direction the ACL suddenly gets pulled. If it’s the UCL that you’re talking about, now that’s a different story. The UCL is found in the arm, and again it’s probably due to the fact that it needs to decelerate fast enough so that the UCL doesn’t get pulled.

I recommend that you continue to work on torso speeds through 3X and hip to shoulder separation. Studies have shown that shoulder orientations or “arm slot” is effected more by torso speeds than positioning.
