Hey Brent, I read your article on pitching out of the wind-up vs. stretch and I’ve decided to go out of the stretch only.  But I have a question — which would be better for more gains in velocity, a traditional slide step or a quick leg lift like John Smoltz in the video?  (https://www.topvelocity.net/the…..r-stretch/)  Thanks!

Leg lift has little to do with velocity. You should use the one that helps your personal timing the best. Velocity is about how much power you can produce through your stride before front foot strike. Too many kids get caught up in the leg lift.

Okay, thank you.  I think I feel better from a regular slide step anyway.  Leg lift was one of the reasons I went to stretch only anyway because I’d feel I was too balanced and couldn’t get my weight on my back leg as effectively.  With the slide step it feels more simple and right to the point.
