3X Advanced Component – 3X Burst

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · September 29, 2012

This video covers the critical movement of the high velocity pitcher called the 3X Burst. This movement will help a low velocity pitcher move into a high velocity category. This video is from the 3X Pitching Mechanics Guide instructional video stream which covers the 3X 2 Phase Delivery, the 6 3X Components and 20 new 3X Advanced Components. It is also back by 20 references to case studies that support the 3X approach to increasing pitching velocity. If you like this video please share it and TopVelocity.net will unlock more 3X Advanced Components from the volt!

Pitching Velocity Quick Tip #7

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · September 7, 2011

This Pitching Velocity Quick Tip covers an important factor of the “Load” position. This is a pitching component in the 3X mechanics. You can learn more about the 3X mechanics by watching this video on the 3X Pitching approach. The important factor of the “Load” position that will be covered here is drive leg flexion. Drive leg flexion is a critical part to the “Load” position because good flexion leads to good extension which is the next component in the 3X mechanics which is the foundation for the entire approach. Most young pitchers have poor flexion and also poor force production through that flexion.

To truely understand how flexion and force production work then I would highly recommend that you watch this video. If you want to see if you have good flexion and force production in your delivery then post your pitching video for analysis here at the forums.

Pitching Velocity Quick Tip#6

This Pitching Velocity Quick Tip covers effective foot contact on the rubber. This is a critical component to velocity because this is the foundation of force production. If you are going to support triple extension (3X) then you must make sure that during your stride, your weight is riding on your power pads. This is the area from the ball of the foot to just above the arc. If your weight is riding on this area then you will be able to finish 3x with an explosive ankle kick.

Those pitchers who do not have good foot contact on the rubber will shift their weight to their heel which will prevent 3x. Some pitchers will start with a good foot contact position but when they start their strides they shift their weight to their heel. To learn more about good foot contact please watch this pitching velocity quick tip.

Pitching Velocity Quick Tip#5

This Pitching Velocity quick tip covers the pros and cons of the radar gun. The radar gun can be a very effective velocity enhancement tool if used correctly. It will reenforce good mechanical adjustments when making corrections in the pitching delivery. Where it can go wrong is when the radar gun is used only to see who can throw the hardest. This type of horse play with the radar gun makes those pitchers vulnerable to injury. If used currently, I highly recommend the use of the radar gun. It is a part of the 3X Velocity system which is the throwing program in the 3X Pitching Velocity program.

Five years ago the radar gun was only rarely used by individual pitchers in practice but because of the cheaper models and cheaper prices of today, it is very common for a young pitcher to have access to a radar gun. I have tested the cheaper models to the more expensive models and the only difference is the consistency of the speeds. Overall the cheaper models are almost just as good as the more expensive ones.

Pitching Velocity Quick Tip #4

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · September 3, 2011

This Pitching Velocity Quick Tip will cover the pros and cons of throwing the football. Throwing a football can promote arm health, specifically in the throwing elbow. This is because the football forces the athlete to have good wrist pronation at release. This is critical for velocity and protecting the eblow. The problem is you must learn how to throw the football correctly to benefit from this important pitching component. If you only throw the football the way most athletes throw a football then it could have a negative effect on your pitching. Watch this video to learn more!

Some coaches may prohibit you from bringing a football to practice. I always got in trouble for this because it would always turn into a football game. Make sure the you check with your coach before bringing it on the baseball field. If you coach protests this then use the football on your own.

The football can be a great tool for a pitcher but only if you have a good understanding of how to use the football as a pitching aid. You can get some drills with then football for pitchers in the Beginner Guide to 3X Pitching which is now a part of the 3X Pitching Velocity program.

Pitching Velocity Quick Tip #3

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · October 24, 2010

This Velocity Quick Tip focuses on the lift leg and how it can work against you when trying to build core torque. Core Torque is critical to reaching your top velocity. This video will show you how to use the lift leg to help you generate more core torque or hip to shoulder separation.

To learn more about the problems and benefits of the lift leg read the article Lift for Show Load for Doe.

These tips all are covered in depth in the Ace Pitcher Handbook and the 3X Velocity Camp Instruction Videos. If you are looking for velocity drills to help you become more total body in your pitching mechanics then you must consider purchasing this information.

Pitching Velocity Quick Tip #2

Brent Pourciau

by Brent Pourciau · October 3, 2010

This is the second velocity quick tip of the velocity quick tip series.

This quick tip covers the “Tilt” and how it is a key component to pitchers like Tim Lincecum’s total body mechanics. This tip will help support good hip to shoulder separation. It uses gravity to build more core torque at front foot strike. It is important though that you maintain balance when implementing the “Tilt” into your delivery.

Here is the article I wrote on Tim Lincecum and the Tilt to learn more about the effects of this key component of velocity.

These tips all are covered in depth in the Ace Pitcher Handbook and the 3X Velocity Camp Instruction Videos. If you are looking for velocity drills to help you become more total body in your pitching mechanics then you must consider purchasing this information.

This is the first Velocity Quick Tip in hopefully a long series of FREE videos full of valuable pitching velocity information.

This quick tip covers the start of the pitching delivery. I cover how your first movement of your pitching delivery will dictate if you are going to be total body or upper body dominate as you move towards ball release. This is a great tip in velocity because it is a quick adjustment that could give you a significant increase in your velocity.

These tips all are covered in depth in the Ace Pitcher Handbook and the 3X Velocity Camp Instruction Videos. If you are looking for velocity drills to help you become more total body in your pitching mechanics then you must consider purchasing this information.

Tips for Improving Pitching Velocity

Not all of these pitching tips may increase your velocity because all body types are different and there are many more factors to velocity than just pitching mechanics. Some pitching velocity tips may increase velocity for you but not for others. This is why it is necessary to test these pitching tips out and see if these baseball pitching tips work for you. It is important to remember that velocity is a product of pitching mechanics or efficient motor coordination and power which is the pitchers ability to generate speed and strength during the delivery. Just because you can move with the same mechanics as a hard throwing pitcher, does not mean you will throw as hard as him. You must also train yourself to generate his level of power, through his mechanics, with his similar body type. These baseball pitching tips are a good place to start learning about increasing velocity.
