Antwerp, Belgium - 3X Coaches BIO:

Born and raised in Antwerp, Belgium where he attended high school and played baseball for Royal Mortsel Stars. While getting scouted overseas he got recruited to play for Southeastern Oklahoma State under hall of fame coach Mike Matheny. Finishing school in 2010 majoring in Health and Physical education.
Throughout his youth he was very good in various sports. His dad had played high level soccer in Belgium, so the choice was obvious to follow in his footsteps. After a while he added track and field to this. He fell in love with the game of baseball at the age of 8 when his grandfather – who was a pilot – got him his first bat, ball and glove from his first flight overseas. He started playing for Royal Mortsel Stars at the age of 10. He soon found out this was his game, joining the first team at the age of 15 and joining the Belgium national seniors team at the age of 17. This is where his career got on the fast track. He is currently playing in the Netherlands for the Oosterhout Twins.
Coaching:
Baseball is more then just a sport to Matthew, it’s his passion! He studies the game in every way possible and wants to share his knowledge and experience with as many people as possible. A logic way to do this is via coaching which he started doing in 2007 where he coached various camps at the SHAPE American Army Base. The following years he worked together with various organizations, helping to promote the game of baseball not only in Belgium but in Europe in general! In January 2014 he decided it was time to start on his own so he developed the MVP Baseball Academy.
He has also been the head trainer of the Little League Flanders program for the past few years.
