I received a great follow up questions to my latest article Just Say NO to Long Distance Running.

I recently read your newest article and I had a few questions about it. Over the past summer I went running long distances a lot and on the trails that I ran it was mostly uphill. The trails ranged from 6-8.7 miles 3 times a week. Now we did not run these entirely slow having finished the 8.4 mile course in under one hour, but do you think this workout is not helping me to increase velocity? Last year I was topping out at 81 and this year I topped out at 86. I was just wondering if I should stop doing this and do my sprints with a weight vest or continue to do this and do sprint work as well. I was just curious to get your opinion on the matter. Thanks.

The up hill running did help increase your velocity. It strengthened your legs, especially your calf muscles. This increased your drive off of the mound and in return added your new velocity.

What prevented you from gaining even more velocity was the slow running part. You need to continue the up hill running but do it as sprints in intervals and push hard. This will continue to strengthen your legs and develop fast twitch fibers. It will also get you over 90. Keep me informed on your progress.

The #1 velocity enhancement program in the world. This program has helped hundreds reach their velocity goals. If you want to know what it is like to throw 90+mph then you must purchase this revolutionary approach to velocity TODAY!
