Baseball Pitching Velocity Training

Chris Fischer 87-94mph 3X PitchingThis is what 3X Pitching is all about. Helping pitchers like Chris Fischer overcome adversity and reach their pitching velocity goals.
Listen to this awesome interview with Chris Fischer who was cut last season in college baseball because he was only throwing 82 mph. He found himself another school to play for and more important, he found the 3X Pitching Velocity Program.
In this interview with Chris Fischer and 3X Coach Kevin Schultz, who coached him through the program, you will learn how Chris went from sitting 87-88mph to sitting 93-94mph in one season after using the 3X Pitching Velocity Program. He will talk about the key elements from the 3X Program that really changed his game. He credits his success to the 3X Programs and 3X Coach Kevin Schultz for helping him learn the system.
Chris Fischer also talks about how important it is to have a pitching velocity program that  not only includes the revolutionary throwing drills like the med throws in the 3X Pitching Velocity program but also the Olympic Style strength and conditioning program. He mentions that the 3X Programs had everything he needed to be successful and told him exactly what days to do what drills, lifts and exercises. He ends the interview talking about how important it was watching the 3X Video Analysis in the forums to helping him learn the approach.

Kevin Schultz3X Coach Kevin Schultz

3X Coach Kevin Schultz, who just recently graduated from college baseball, talks about his success using the 3X Pitching Velocity Program and how he gained 7mph as well following the 3X Velocity Camp that he attended two summers ago. He was recorded at the Frontier League Tryouts this past summer at 89 mph which unfortunately was not enough to make the cut. In the interview Kevin talks about his success with the 3X programs and how he helped Chris have the same success. Kevin is still coaching and training today in hopes to make a team.

Chris Fischer Interview Transcript

Brent:
This is Brent Pourciau TopVelocity.net. I got Kevin Schultz here and Chris who I am going to be interviewing today, Chris, Chris I didn't get your last name. What is your last name?
Chris:
Fischer
Brent:
Awesome! Well I know I know Kevin told me he introduced you to the 3X Program and kind of coached you through it. Can you tell a little bit what that was like when he first introduced you to it?
Chris:
Yeah, it was actually the last season when I showed up a ASO, the school I am currently at in Oklahoma. I had just be cut from U of M's team in Albuquerque. I partially blame it on injury and stuff. Yeah, I came down here and I have always be that guy who is trying to throw hard. It has always been one of my main goals and I met Kevin and he introduced me to the program. I can't say I followed the program exactly but because I don't own the program but from what I have done of the program it has helped me alot. I have seen huge results from it in the last month or two. I have jumped from about, this time last year 87-88mph touching 89-90mph every once and a while. My last time out I finally jumped up to 92mph. I was sitting 92mph bring it up to 94mph.
Brent:
Cool, you said you got it up to 92-94mph?
Chris:
Yeah, I was actually sitting 93-94mph pretty consistently my last outing.
Brent:
You said you didn't do it consistently. So kind of tell me what you and Kevin did when you first started doing it. How much of the program where you doing.
Chris:
Well, initially when I was with Kevin we were doing the whole program. The separation throws, the jumps. We were getting into it every day. It was in the spring though because I got transferred over in the spring. I think the wear and tear on my arm kind of caused me to not see........................
Brent:
I think you dropped out again. We caught you on wear and tear. You there?
You there? Chris
Kevin your there, did we loss him?
Kevin:
Chris you there.
Brent:
I swear it sounds like he is on the moon. He keeps going in and out.
Kevin:
Yeah, I think we just lost him.
Brent:
Alright, well Kevin. He will come back. Tell us about what he was saying when ya'll met what where ya'll doing.
Kevin:
Hold on one second. You there Chris.
Chris:
Hey, I am here.
Kevin:
Alright he is back.
Brent:
Hey, we lost you at wear and tear. You said wear and tear on your arm.
Chris:
Yeah, we were going at it hard and it was right in the middle of the season. I was feeling a lot of wear and tear. I feel like last year I would be throwing harder than I was because I say huge strength gains in my power clean and my squat. I didn't see much velo gains I blame that on being tired. I should have been doing the in-season program and I was doing the off-season just because I was trying to gain a significant amount of strength at the time.
Brent:
Kevin said when you first started ya'll got 4-5 weeks. Is that what you said Kevin.
Kevin:
Yeah, we got to about week 7 before he just decided that we should probably cut back with the volume that we where going with because we where doing the entire program with separation throws and everything and on top of that he was starting a game once a week.
Brent:
That is pretty tough. That is pretty good at least you got 7 weeks in. Kevin was telling me ya'll came back latter on and did it when you went out to Kevin.
Chris:
Yeah, over this summer I went up to Michigan. I was actually planning to come down to your camp . It was just easier for me to go up there and live with Kevin.
Brent:
He is one of my certified coaches so I am glad you did that. That is why he is there. I am glad he got you on the program. So when you went out their how many weeks did you do it with Kevin?
Chris:
I would say about another 5 weeks. Would you say Kevin?
Kevin:
Yeah, it was about 5 weeks.
Brent:
So, you had a total 12 weeks out of it.
Chris:
I am actually still doing the program now. I am actually out here with Kevin Royer now.
Brent:
How is Kevin doing now? Is he help you out with it some?
Chris:
Yeah, we have been doing pretty much all of it together. He actually had the second phase of your program that he introduced me to. Which is pretty cool. The new throws and I started doing the snatch and stuff.
Brent:
Cool man! So when did you know that the program was really helping you? When did you get a good sense that this was helping you to take it to the next level? Did it happen quick?
Chris:
Yeah, honestly whenever I looked into the program. Kevin went into detail. I had been trying to throw for a long time and I knew it wasn't going to be some miracles program. When I started going through the package it had everything. It had the lifts, the med ball it had everything I needed and it was a day to day plan. It was perfect. I would say velocity wise it started working after I came back after the summer I have been popping some high numbers on the gun and my arm is really healthy.
Brent:
Kevin, said you have a scout day tomorrow.
Chris:
Yeah, I am pretty pumped about it. I have been preparing for this day for quit a while.
Brent:
I am feeling it man.I think you are going to have a big day tomorrow. We are going to be reading about you soon. We will definitely rooting for you man.
Chris:
I really appreciate that. I thank you very much for putting that information out their for me to read and work on because it has helped me a lot. I was kind of lost. I mean I had my daily plan that I did but when I ran into that stuff it was exactly what I needed to take it to the next level.
Brent:
I think you had a great coach with Kevin. Kevin does a great job really coaching the program. What do you think?
Chris:
Yeah, Kevin he pretty much changed my life around. He was getting me up in the morning. We were going hard and it is going to pay off. I think...
Brent:
If you could give anyone advice in their career. What would you think the best advice....If you could look back to yourself when you were coming up before that injury. Knowing what you know now that you have been through this program. What would you tell yourself that you need to do to get where you are now?
Chris:
The big part for me is the strength the power cleans. Being able to get that explosive motion. The power cleans were good for me. Right when I saw my weight gains on my power cleans I saw my velocity gains.
Brent:
Exactly, every single guy in my programs who has the significant gains like you had they all when you talk about what is the bread and butter than say the power cleans and the separation throws. Would you say that is it?
Chris:
Actually, I started doing more of the separation throws recently and I honesty believe it gave me a mile and hour or two. I started doing them maybe two weeks ago. I was doing them everyday for a long time before I would warm up. I felt like I was throwing the ball harder because of those drills. When I got on the gun I was throwing pretty hard. As hard as I had ever thrown pretty much.
Brent:
How old are you know?
Chris:
21
Brent:
Great so 21 and going into scout day and you are going to sit 93-94mph. I think great things are going to happen. Just go out their and own it. I can't wait to hear what happens.
Chris:
Great I appreciate that. I am pretty excited myself.
Brent:
Kevin do you want to say anything before we sign off here?
Kevin:
No, Chris he just came and he did the work and I just guided him through the program and we went through it and the program did what it was supposed to do.
Brent:
Kevin, sense I have not done and interview with you. Kevin, you came into the program and you came down for a camp. I will never forget when you came to camp. I always say you looked like a monkey humping a football. It was a little awkward for you. Your work ethic is what turned you around. Talk a little bit about your success that you had with the program.
Kevin:
I started trying to do the med balls and triple extension before front foot strike was something that I was not doing because when I started trying to do it with the drills it was really difficult for me.
Brent:
Tell them the gains that you made before that Frontier League Tryout.
Kevin:
When I was at camp I think we had me at 82mph on Brent's gun and then when I went to Frontier League I hit 89mph six times in a row. I couldn't break the 90mph but I feel if my power clean numbers would go up I would gain the extra velocity.
Brent:
That one mph right?
Kevin:
Yeah, it is just alluding me.
Brent:
How much did you train with the programs before you went into that Frontier tryout?
Kevin:
I got a solid 12 weeks in before I went to the tryout. I did it all the way up to one week before the tryout and did a little tapper to give my body a little rest. I continued the speed work but laid off of the strength work. I was pretty prepared. This summer I came home and got back into the program because I didn't make a team for the Frontier League. I came back home and played in a mens league keep working the program. I do it in my back yard. I feel like I really concentrated on the separation throws. That has really helped me a lot. The med throws are huge. That was always something that I did but the more I do them the more explosive my ankle kick gets. That is a really  big piece of it.
Brent:
That is really cool. Chris I really appreciate you doing the interview. It is exciting to hear about your future. Thanks for letting me know about your success and we will keep an eye out for you.
Chris:
I appreciate it, thank you. I want to say something before I leave. Another big key to your program is the analysis you put online. That is huge for us. We look at that daily. You put out huge amount of information what the deliveries should look like and I think it is spot on.
Brent:
I appreciate that man I am glad you are taking good use of that. I am glad you their with Kevin Royer. Kevin Royer came out this summer and trained and we had fun with him. If you guys want to come down again next summer then come down. Kevin is going to be down their so we will have a good time.
Chris:
Sounds good!
Brent:
Appreciate it guys. Have a good day tomorrow Chris and we will talk soon!
