Condition your body for faster pitches with a program that is tailored to your individual needs
Conditioning your body for pitching is essential to increase your pitching velocity. A good conditioning program will be tailored to your specific needs and will help you increase your strength, power, mobility, and endurance. It’s important to find a program that works for you, and to stick with it over the long term.
Working on your mechanics is another key to increasing your pitching velocity. Poor mechanics can lead to wasted energy and reduced speed. You can improve your mechanics by using online resources to learn the correct way to throw a pitch. We recommend the 3X Pitching Velocity Program.
Finally, it’s important to strengthen your arm and shoulder muscles. This can be done with exercises such as shoulder presses, shrugs, lateral raises, and rotator cuff routines. These exercises will help you develop the upper body needed to transfer more power to the ball from the legs.
If you follow these tips, you will be on your way to throwing harder and dominating on the mound!
Improve your mechanics by using drills that help you stay in control of your faster pitches
It’s important to have good mechanics if you want to throw hard pitches. You can improve your mechanics by using drills that help you stay in control of your pitches. These drills will help you get into the correct position and stay there throughout the pitch. They will also help you generate more power and increase your pitching velocity.
One great drill to improve your mechanics is the 3X Crossover drill which teaches the critical component of hip and shoulder separation. This drill helps you get into a good throwing position and stay there throughout the pitch. To do this drill, you’ll need a baseball and a target. You will cross your feet and rotate your shoulders all the way close to the target. When you’re ready, throw the ball to the target from this twisted position. Make sure to keep your arm at 90 degrees and stay in control of the ball until it reaches the target. Repeat this drill 10 times or more if you are improving.
Another great drill to improve your mechanics is the ER/IR drill. This drill helps you get used to throwing with good shoulder rotation. To do this drill, stand about 10 feet away from a target. With your shoulders and hips facing the target lift your arm above your shoulder at 90 degrees. Tuck your other arm with the glove down. When you’re ready, let the throwing arm lay back as you lean your trunk forward. Once the arm fully lays back and the chest is optimally pushed forward let the arm rotate forward and release the ball quickly with no rotation in the pelvis or trunk. Repeat this drill 10 times or more as needed.
